Decorated eggs are/were often given to celebrate Easter time or Springtime.
The color used were faily limited and were based on natural dyes available.
Yellow, red/orange, green, brown and black were the predonimant colours.
In the 1800’2 small amounts of blue and purple were sometimes added.

Red – the oldest symbolic color which has many meanings. It represents life-giving blood,love joy and the hope of marriage.
Yellow – symbolized the sun , moon , stars and the agrcultural harvest
Blue – Represented the blue skies, or the air and good health
White – Signified purity,birth, light, rejoicing and virginity
Green – The colour of new life in spring. The riches of vegetation and nature.
